Well - it's possible to end up with a gap, depending on how you're audio is in the place where you're editing. You have to take care in what you do and how you do it. There isn't a "foolproof" way to fix it; although you might be able to get away with it after editing. Most of the time I have to take care of gaps and other things that'll crop up; or it may be that I have to nudge the rest of the audio a little backward or forward to make sure that I either fill the gap or create one, depending on what I'm working on. It's definitely not a quick fix for sure.
