Hi guys, after a day's worth of research and comparison, I decided I'm going
to wait and try and build up my budget a bit more and get both the
Sennheiser HD 280 PRO and the Shure SRH840. This is because I need one that
I can use for the control room (the 840) and then something with good noise
isolation for the booth (the 280). I know there are quite a bit of options
in this price range, but I'm mainly looking for comfort when long use, noise
isolation, and sound of the cans (not for mixing purposes) but to get an
idea of what I'm working with. I still like the sony's and what I've read
about them, but from the various choices I was contemplating these 2 stuck
out the most; since I couldn't pull the trigger for one of the other, I
decided to get them both; let's just hope I can build up to it. I'll
probably grab the sony's later to try them, as I've owned an older pair from
them and they were quite good and durable.

Speaking of budget, anybody wanna buy an M-audio oxygen61? Lol.
I did se the 840's at amazon for a lower price, which helped my decision.
Thanks to all who offered suggestions and experiences, it really helped.

Regards, D!J!X!

Hi:
I like either the Sony or akg ones myself. I also just bought a wireless
set of headphones from Zenhowser whcich are remarkably good and they were
only around $70 on Amazon. I do know that shure makes some good high-end
headphones as well as audio tecnica.

Thanks, I'm not too big on the AKG set either, I'm actually between the sony
and Sennheiser; as you mentioned, the AKG stuff gets good at a higher cost.
I'm still looking at the beyer stuff, it's a mix of opinions and reviews, it
might be that I'd have to fork out a few more bucks.
If I may ask, what types of recordings do you do? How would you describe the
280's response? Does it get fatiguing on the ears after a while? I'm finding
that this is a prominent issue, either too much bass or too much highs which
tire the ears after a while of listening.

THX, D!J!X!

I personally have the sennheiser HD280 pro and love them. I have had them
for about 3 years now and they are still good enough for my needs and I
don't feal the need to upgrade yet. They are very comfortable to ware for
long periouds of time and gives great isolation especially if you are going
to use them for monitoring when recording, nothing gets out and nothing gets
in.
I personally don't like AKG headphones in this price range you are looking
at, you start getting the propper AKG headphones when going above $500. I
also heard that beyer dynamic makes awesome headphones so check it out, I
unfortunatly can't recommend a spesific model.
You won't go wrong with the HD280 pro
