So now that we've compared different versions of jaws, is apple's voiceover any better for us? ----- Original Message ----- From: D!J!X! Windows7 and jaws 11 work somewhat good, there's honestly no better improvements on jaws 12, it now seems that all the fixes and upgrades are made to that lookup source crap or some other remote feature. I haven't seen a good update to jaws in a while; no adding of new scripts to support or improve on applications other than office and the occasional bugs). But a real update with some actual new features that work and stuff would be a plus. The OCR feature is OK IMO, but you lose out, cuz it does run slower at times, laggs for no reason in others. I've seen this behaviour on both 32 and 64bit platforms. JAWS 11 isn't bug free either, neither is 12, and even in all fairness sometimes jaws has to do work arounds and who know what background/under the hood things to work with some of windows more complicated UI stuff and such things, but still unexceptable for a almost thousand dollar piece of software! That's like buying an RME interface to find that it's performing crappy; people will pay big bucks, but they'll also expect big things! But I can recommend jaws11 for windows 7, it works well enough, depending on what you'll be using windows for. Jaws10 is a definite no-no. You could always switch between jaws11 and 13 if need be, I personally kep a demo of it (can't justify upgrading SMA), but i have it to run whenever i need something scanned, however i haven't had much luck with that... That's what I'm using and am not sure if I like the way jaws is running. So it's better the devil you know than the angel you don't. Go ahead and use JAWS 13 with Windows 7 as you will benefit from future upgrades.
