Hi Jorgen, What type of recorder do you use for portable, quick recordings? A
cassette, digital, or something different yet. i've got recorder in my cell
phone and that has came in handy. made a hot key for the recorder so can bring
it up very quickly. Also, I am totally blind, but my cell phone has speech
synthesizer in it so speaks everything in there so can find any song i want. is
very handy for recording someone on the fly and has choices for good quality
too, considering what it is.
Am excited to be going back to Amsterdam near end of november where i've
gotten lots of inspiration and tons of different styles of music to catch.
Where i don't have same ability with a keyboard, just jamming to different
styles in drum machine kind of works same way and works for me. Good to play
outside of style that comes naturally as force myself to get into other styles
and find that i like them a lot. Good luck and happy writing. Dave

  Hi scott!
I must admit that I have the same feeling as you sometimes, but it also
depends on which mood you're in, and what kind of inspiration you've got.
Sometimes when I'm abroad, I always take my portable recorder with me and
recording some of the music they have in that country I'm in at the time. and
for now, I must tell you, that when I made up my first album, I got through
some old songs that my passed away good old friend Henrik and I did together,
and rerecorded them and gave those songs a hole new life, and that was really
exciting. Sometimes, when I'm standing by the Tyros 3 keyboard I have, I can
get some inspiration by playing around with all the styles it has, for example,
last night I was just doing that and I even recorded what I did, and I have now
some other old songs that my friend Henrik and I have done in my head which may
be rerecorded sometimes. one of them is called Summer lovin', and it was kind
of a reggae song, but now I found a style which is sounding more poppy and
rocky, so I'm planning on working on that song and see how it goes.
Ok, enough from me now, smile.

  Jörgen Hansson!

    Hello.

I'm feeling lately that the passion and love for music composition that I
used to have is fading.

When I got my kurzweil pc3, and would play it, I didn't feel the same
excitement and creative spark that I felt long ago when I had my first keyboard.

I'm not sure if it's a case where maybe I've changed over all this time
without an outlet for musical creativity because I've been without a board for
so long but I'm wondering, for those of you who have been in music for a while,
how do you ignite the passion if you feel it slipping away?

Someone suggested to me that maybe I'm just ready to go in a new direction
musically. Reworking old material is predictable and boring, even on a new
board and as much as I'd like to get into ambient and space music, I find that
when I try to write that sort of thing, I find myself wondering where to go
with an idea, how long to stretch it out, etc. I enjoy the long-form
characteristics of a lot of ambient music. Perhaps I'm getting in my own way as
I've heard that some artists have that problem.

If we get this new house that we're hoping to buy, I'll have a dedicated
space for my pc and whatever keyboard I decide to buy and maybe that will help,
having my own personal creative space. Right now, everything's in the study
which is a common area for all of us.

Thanks for letting me ramble out some thoughts and for giving me any ideas
or feedback you might have regarding what I've written.

    Scott
