Hi Steve, The good news is that you are able to start everything despite things quickly going off the rails. I had a drum machine via midi that did this too. The problem was in Options/project/midi (those are the menus) Within the midi menu under project there are 2 page Tabs. One is midi out and the other is midi sync. Tab through the options within these 2 page Tabs and then try to start the process by pressing record. Remember you have to have a track armed before the recording process will start.I can't remember exactly which one of the 5 or 6 check boxes got everything working so that there was no more "drifting", but I remember doing the happydance when it finally clicked. Try combinations of checking and unchecking. Otherwise, the number for Mike Skinner of the Streets, is -----Original Message-----From: ddots-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ddots-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] OnBehalf Of Steve Wicketts Sent: Tuesday, May 12, 2009 7:37 PM To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxxSubject: [ddots-l] Re: still having problems making sonar my Sequencer slaveThanks so much Tim, I'll take another look tomorrow. I love music, I only wished I'd kept up with the changes in the technology. This is how crazy I got today, I tried to match the sequencer tempo with theSonar tempo then, I hit play in time with the Sonar metronome. I'd got all the tracks on Sonar quantised to 16th. I managed to get four bars before they started to drift and after that the Quantised play back on Sonar was strange to say the least, (if The Streets had heard it, they would have probably made a hit out of it). You Guys are so helpful. Thanks Tim. There's good stuff in the Help system. Here's a sequence of actions to perform in Sonar's Help to get you to the topics you need: 1 - Open Sonar Help; 2 - Press S until you get to "Synchronising Your Gear", then press the right arrow to expand it; 3 - Arrow down and you'll get "synchronisation Overview", so press Enter on it, followed by F6 and you'll be able to read the topic; 4 - Press Alt+C to get back to the table of contents;5 - Press the down arrow to get to the next topic - there's quite a few inthis section of the Help and they're all worth a read if you're going to get a handle on this and there's quite a few step-by-step examples. Let me know how you get on and if I can help clarify anything you don't understand. Best wishes. I've set up all the necessary MIDI Channels in Sonar and when I pressed play on the sequencer all the MIDI Channels and corresponding sounds perform perfectly. After I'd check that they all worked, I set the sync mode and control midiin on the sequencer and hit record on the sonar, but nothing happened. Maybe it would be easier if Sonar was the Slave? Tim, which would you advise. You can't get very far if you don't know the answer to thisquestion, but I should be able to help further if you can let me know theanswer. Best wishes. I just want to put some tracks from my hardware sequencer on to Sonar. Mike Christer advice wisely to look in Options menu, as there's info about midi but I couldn't find midi sync or MTC. I'm not able to access the help files as when I press enter on a topic nothing happens. I think the help files need me to have internet access which I haven't got in my little studio room. I tried a external floppy drive (as that seemed like a good idea from Omar) but unfortunately sonar isn't even recognising that the discs are even formatted. If I could only find the midi Sync, midi time clock page, I may be able to put these sequencer tracks on to the sonar. Please! can anyone help.
