Good grief, Dave.  You are quite correct.

I've passed it on as a "questionable design feature".

(I'd just say it was a "bug", but the software guys get
upset with me for some reason.  (Smile))

If you open a file that has been saved as a .dxp or .dxb
file and you use the translate function, DBT does not issue
any warning at all.

On the otherhand, if you have opened a .dxp or .dxb file,
you use the "Translate" function, you then use the
"translate" function again from within the newly created
transcribed file, to produce a second copy of the .dxp or
.dxb file, that is when DBT issues the warning that you are
attempting to transcribe a file that has already been
transcribed.
