Catherine: It has been my experience that converting Word documents to WordPerfect is a very risky business indeed. The reason is that if WordPerfect doesn't convert a particular Word style, the text created in that style will simply be missing from the converted document. I have seen entire paragraphs missing because someone who didn't know how to use Word styles properly put a header style in the body of the text. WordPerfect does not recognize this header style, so all the text in that style wasn't there anymore when I opened the WordPerfect document in Duxbury. We were so glad here when Duxbury 10.3 allowed for direct importation of Word documents. Ann Foxworth, Computer Braille Specialist Texas Commission for the Blind 4800 N. This is not a problem for the majority of my work which is done from scanned print documents or from ascii text. However, occasionally, I have to convert a document from MSWORD to something that can be opened in WordPefect DOS. I have a DOS program called VIEW whichwill very successfully force such a document into plain ascii tect. Its main drawback is that it leaves in the MSWORD codes--all the stuff about how the document was prepared, what fonts, headings, printer etc. was used. Does anyone know of another method for coverting MSWORD docments without MSWORD or, alternatively, specific instruction to give customers so that they can send a document originally created in MSWORD in plain text?
