Susan,
The tilde (shift of the accent grave, the key to the left of number one on 
standard keyboards) also produces dots 4-5. The slight advantage for some 
transcribers in using this key is that on a refreshable braille display 
this symbol does not contain a dot 7. For all who don't know what I'm 
talking about, don't worry. It's unimportant.
