Math OCR has been a struggle for years. Mainstream OCR companies have not 
solved the problem of getting accurate and useful math out of scanned 
documents. I believe this is not only due to the fact that most of their 
customers are not worrying about math, but also because of the different 
methods used to write and display equations. The only solution we've found 
is the InftyReader software. http://www.inftyproject.org/en/index.html -- 
It will save into LaTeX format, which allows for import into Duxbury. This 
is the same format that Scientific Notebook uses.

It's quirky, but InftyReader can definitely help, esp. with upper level 
math texts. If you're doing a lot of math, it's worth climbing the 
learning curve.
