 @vidrep do you have several partitions that get mounted at boot time, or
 just a unique "/Haiku" volume ? If you have several, what happens if you
 disable their auto-mounting at boot time, does the bug go away ?

 I ask because of a tiney-weeny small-ish chance that I've found a/the
 trigger of the pathmonitor loop bug: that bug just occured to me on my
 laptop for the first time (it usually occurs on my desktop).. And it
 happened as I (also for the first time in weeks) manually mounted an ntfs
 partition, a few seconds after the desktop appeared. So my theory is that
 maybe it's the BMessage received due to subscribing
 with`BVolumeRoster::StartWatching()` or whatever, that throws pathmonitor
 a curve, at least part of the time.
