** Hastings Rock Radio **
Just to add on the contingency front (as opposed to Nick asking
questions about CD players):
- we still have all the recordings from last year's May broadcast,
which whilst not totally ideal, some could be re-broadcast
- as I mentioned before, I've now dug out the PC that would allow
presenters to remote in & control it that way. This could be offered
to those who were planning on broadcasting from someone else's
premises. However I will need some advance notice if anyone wants to
go down this route in order to get set up. I'll also need to update
the documentation slightly.

“CARRY ON. ON LINE ” I say unless the rule of 6 changes THEN it
will be upto the studio host as to how it continues. In the case of a
lockdown during the broadcast I say we revert to the same output as
May ( which I believe Steve is working on) and utilise Robojock
wherever it is needed. As I have said before this broadcast is a
learning curve and Not as important as the the May broadcast so if we
have to use Robojock then we should. After all what other Radio
Station can do that. ( hand over the playlist to the listeners, that
is). Fingers ( and other things) crossed for a decent couple of weeks

It would seem following Boris's statement today that the
broadcast schedule can still continue as planned and the rule of

However, I believe we should be prepared for things changing,
even during broadcast, if the current measures have no effect on
the rise in Covid-19.

yes , im not going to break the law by letting people in the back
gate . Lets hope it dosent happen , they announce these things on
a Thursdays normally so we might not know til last minute .
i feel we should go ahead with out present plan .
if last minute they announce restrictions , we can do the same
as last time with Robo Jock filling in .
im very covic aware with my customers so anyone that come to my
house will be treated like that .

I can open up the whole "remote in" option again if there is
sufficient
interest. As a reminder, all a DJ needs is a mic, headset and a
PC with
Internet access. Hooking it in should be easy enough as this time
around it'd be running on a different machine.
This also means that if anyone wants to do some training whilst
we're
on air, that can be accommodated as well since it won't disrupt
the
output. Obviously they'd need to let me know when they want to
use it
as I wouldn't plan to leave the machine running all the time.

My guess would be that the best contingency plan is as

If it's impossible (which I feel it may be) for Not only Steve
to re
plan the whole schedule but also the presenters to be free for
the
extra time Slots. My feelings would be to utilise Robojock. It
would
be a last resort and an extreme measure but with only two weeks
to go
it seems the least stressful step to take for all involved. An
explanation jingle could be scheduled into Robojock times to
apologise and explain the situation. Let's be honest this
broadcast
is a testing the water thing anyway and not our main broadcast.
It's
only two weeks That said I know we need to look and sound as
professional as possible. Cheers R

Unfortunately Sarah I think you're right to be worried.
Things certainly don't look good now, and are probably going
to get
worse before they get better. Our only hope is that any
restrictions are done on a local basis, and at the moment at
least,
the Hastings area is doing reasonably ok. If that continues,
we may
be ok, but who knows....
I think our problem lies in the fact that we are planning on
having
more DJ's than last time, with several planning on using
yours &
Nick's studio, plus we've lost at least one DJ we used last
time.
As you say Steve could try & plan a DJ schedule for a
'lockdown'
type scenario, but that's a lot of work & would he be able to
cover
all the slots at such short notice with less DJ's anyway?
Don't
forget we go live in two weeks time!

I am not scaremongering here, but I am getting rather nervous
about
all this talk about 'lockdown' and 'tighter restrictions'.
Should we be considering a contingency plan? Particularly if
DJs
are prevented from using other people's studios.
Sorry Steve, this could make more work for you, but I think
we
should look to mitigate the risk.
