I have a stick welder, TIG welder, and oxy-acetylene gas torch and I have access to a MIG welder. For me, brazing is the best method and provides more than enough strength. The key as mentioned before is minimal gaps, around 0.001" and high strength brazing rod and good flux and proper metal prep. There are a number of methods for making precise joints in tubing. Brazing allows better heat control to minimize damaging the strength of the metal being welded. Brazing can be as strong as or stronger than a weld. Brazing is not "Art", just good welding technique.

Actually, it's worth pointing out that if you persevere, and don't
worry too much if some of your early work is big and lumpy and ugly,
and needs cleaning up with the grinder (linishing discs are good for
that), you can learn eventually to weld even thin tube with a cheap,
simple stick welder.

And there's never any of the cold-lapping problems that you can get
with a MIG: looks good, but isn't really a joint at all.

With rods, you KNOW you've burnt well into the parent metal. The only
problem is to catch the deft knack of not burning right through. But
practice makes -- well maybe not perfect, but doable. Worth
persevering. I've never used anything else for any of my bike/trailer
projects. Cheers, Rh.
