Last evening (8/21/03) I made my semi-weekly trip to the ash ponds of
Kingston Steam Plant. The following birds of interest to me were observed:

2 Caspian Terns flying and on the ash bars (seen in the ash pond on the
left with the yellow dredging boat in it)

3 Great Egrets

2 Osprey

I Greater Yellowlegs at close range (made a "whew, whew, whew" call when it
flew off)

i juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron in the furthest pond on the left

2 Eastern Kingbirds

Saw 2 Short-billed dowitchers the week before (8/14/03), but no SB
Dowitchers seen last night
