All of this talk about BBSing got me to thinking that there may be subscribers to this list who don't realize that bulletin boards are still alive and well. The only difference is that they have become Internet accessible (with one exception, more on this later.) You can access the bulletin boards with a standard telnet client and if you want to experience these boards they way they are meant to be enjoyed, you'll need a telnet client capable of handing PETSCII graphics. Luckily, CGTerm [1] is such a client and it's free. You can learn more about telnet bulletin boards (telbbs for short) by visiting Jeff Ledger's [2] excellent site. He also hosts the TelBBS Forums [3] where you'll find lists of telnet boards oriented towards Commodore 8bit [4] and Amiga [5] users. The exception I mentioned earlier is Andrew Wiskow's Cottonwood BBS which is accessible the good, old fashioned way -- with a modem. You can find out more about the BBS at its website [6] and you can connect to the BBS by calling 951-242-3593 (300-1200 baud).
