Well don't believe everything you read on the internet lol. C64 power
supplies are definitely NOT all built equally. If you don't have the unit
that actually shipped with the C64 you have, you may want to consider a few
things. Like many electronics, ventilation is important. At the Personal
Computer Museum (http://www.pcmuseum.ca) where we run C64's ALL the time,
we use normal power supplies but we have small small feet on the C64 itself
to keep it just slightly elevated on the counter to help with airflow. This
keeps our systems running perfectly using stock power supplies.

Do you really need a new power supply? I recently had issues with my
power supply, turned out it was just a bad connection at the connector. I
ripped it apart and resoldered, now it's working great!

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a Canadian-friendly manufacturer who produces new PSUs
for the C64 or at the very least a "power saver"? I know Ray Carlssn in
the States gets excellent reviews but with the crappy dollar, shipping
costs, and customs fees, I was hoping there was somebody analogous here in
the Great White North.
