Please excuse this somewhat belated report of the Huntley Meadows Monday
Morning Birdwalk. Time got away from me yesterday. There were 11 birders who
spotted 48 species on a clear, warming day in the wetlands. As is sometimes
the case, our highlights were the species not seen rather than ones seen.
There were no crows seen, nor Red-eyed Vireos yesterday. Again, no Wood
Thrushes nor Oven Birds - absenses of great concern to me. I would be
interested in hearing from subscribers about their Wood Thrush and Oven Bird
encounters throughout Virginia. Shorebirds are arriving with one each of
Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs along with a couple of Killdeer.
