Valerie,
I also send my condolences. I remember Doug from some of the phone conference
conversations he and I were on years ago.
He was articulate, intelligent, and had great ideas.
As Lissi has said, his legacy will live on in the books he did for Bookshare,
particularly the images he described with such skill. He will benefit many
children who may never know his name, but who will carry a bit of him with them
when they read his descriptions.
Evan

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] A sad note
Last night at about 9 PM, my beloved husband, Doug, passed away. It happened
without notice; he was not sick and I was out grocery shopping. I am bereft. I
cannot imagine my life without him, but I am grateful for 24 years of marriage
and almost two more before that. Doug was an amazing man and a great blessing
as a Bookshare work partner. Please forgive me if I do not reply as there are
many people to notify and arrangements to make.
Please keep me in your prayers as I enter this new chapter of my life, alone.
It's been over 35 years since I lived alone. Even our two sweet dogs can tell
everything is different.
Valerie
