Hey Cindy,
Jessie posted back in 2004 that the copy put back on the download list is the ORIGINAL submitted copy. Jessie described this as a rare, but occuring bug. We as the list have been given no indication that this has changed.

BTW I'm not currently sure of plans for the holiday break, but a sidetrip would be nice :-)

HTH,
Jake

Hmmm. I think I understand what you said --but that
would explain one "done," right? Why two? And why, if
it's processed, does the original go back onto the
download list? Or is the one back on the list the
validated copy that only needs something like
copyright verification?

I should have asked that last question before, and
thought about it. When a book is put back on the list
of verification, is it the original scan or the
validated book? I did validate Never Say Die--and when
I validate I read the book carefully and then do a
spell-check to catch words I may have missed--and I'm
always amazed to find quite a few. But could I have
just verified the copyright name and uploaded the book
without validating it because it had already been
done? Grace, did you validate On a Snowy Night or
just provide the information about Mira being the
copyright holder?

I believe what this action means is that the
automated tools which run after
a book is uploaded are done running. Looks like the
Stripper and Duxbury,
as well as other tools, are run on the file as soon
as it is finished
uploading rather than after Gustavo approves the
book for the collection.
That seems odd unless you think of approval as
moving the distribution
version into the part of the system where members
have access to it rather
than approving it for processing by the tools
followed by adding it to the
collection. I suspect that this ensures that books
only make it into the
collection once they are processed and are in the
specialized formats which
satisfy copyright law.
