In fact, cataleptic hand is more than a "representative", is a gesture, a
resource, a possibility...
It uses the hand (a "cataleptic" one, an "slept hand", "not connected
hand") as this resource. Matthias Varga & Insa Sparrer develop this
procedure and has a lot of beautiful possibilities, as you can see in their
trainings and also in videos like:

When you use your hand as a "cataleptic hand", your hand "doesn't belong to
you" anymore (as long as you use it as cataleptic hand), and that's why you
can act as Facilitator and feel also differences in/with the hand. In the
video shared above you can see how Matthias "de-roll" his hand after the
exercise.

Yes, cataleptic hand is:
- independently-sensing mechanism
- can be used as a representative
- for both reasons, can also be used to test and separate “context
overlaps”, where a representative has been entangled (overlapped) with
another element. For example, where client has projected or confused their
boss with their father (doesn’t have to be a person, can be anything, and
can be positive or negative).
By using the cataleptic hand, you can test if this is so and separate the
two elements, so that both the original element and the entangled part(s)
can be seen and experienced separately.
As Sarah Cornally taught us, there are 5 different types of context
overlap: veiling, shielding confusion, mixture and lost.

You can look up lots of references in Insa Sparrer's book 'Miracle,
Solution & System'. I believe the technique was adopted to SySt from
hypnosis, where it signifies something slightly different. From there to
more general work.
