Thanks for your help. I've got jaws 16 Professional.
And yes, I noticed the CPU spike. All the fans went on like I would use all my
12 cores during video and audio conversion ... I hoped it was the free virtual
midi cable software though, so hopefully Tim finds enough time and founds to
fix this eventually.

Try Jaws 14 or maybe 15? Surface Reader doesn't work with 16 or 17.
Unfortunately, Tim Burgess, it's author, is swamped with a day job and also has
no funds to continue developing Surface Reader. He sure wants to though, so I
have every reason to believe it will eventually work with newer versions of
Jaws.
You may also notice a slight CPU spike when Surface Reader is running. Tim also
knows about this and wants to fix it, when time and funds allow.
