Hi Nickus: Try concealing the recording light from his view if possible while he is rehearsing with the track. This way, you can make multiple tracks of him singing without his knowledge, plus he won't feel so up tight. Now you have a variety of vocal tracks to choose from or cut, copy and paste the best parts from the sum of all to make the best one. It's a trick that you can try.
