I think Phil's way is the best way to go for now. I really wish we could comp tracks on Cakewalk with ct like protool. Clips pane is really clumzy to navigate with ct for now, and scrubbing on sonar isn't best either.

Track layering has been made accessible in all JFW available scripting packages. Problem is that nun of us have been able to get it to work as there are certain issues. For example, if you mute a clip to hear another one then there doesn't seem to be any way to unmute it, even if you right click on it in the clips pane which, you can do in both packages. Cloning tracks and copying and pasting is way quicker and less fiddly than attempting to mess around with track layers.

I'm not really sure, as I didn't really get that far into it. That is
something that Slau really knows about. While we're on this subject, it
seems like everyone is not a fan of track layers. Is this truly inaccessible
to us? Reason I ask is because CT reports things about track layers, so
obviously David has done some work in making something workable in that
regard. Your thoughts?
