Phil replied: Sonar has a playlist feature. Hmm, must take a look at this as haven't yet.

Kevin wrote: Once you have all you're takes, you just juggle between playlists for each peace you want to comp.

Phil replied: suspect you could do this with Sonar's playlist feature.

Kevin wrote: As a new sonar user, I'm exploring the idea of really
nailing the whole concept of how to use the clips pane so that you can grab
different clips all on one track, instead of comping 3 tracks together.

Phil replied: sounds like your talking about using layers. Still can't really see the point in this as copying and pasting is easier.

Kevin wrote: I would think that the clips pane might be A more concise and organized way of comping, but I haven't really sat down and explored it yet. That is one of
my goals this year.

Phil replied: Hmm, don't think you will achieve much by going into the clips pane. Still think that cloning the best vocal take then, copying from others on to that one is the easiest method for us.

Kevin wrote: Just some thoughts.

Phil replied: ditto!

Subject: [ddots-l] comping vocal takes

I wanted to hear what others did for comping different vocal takes into one
cohesive track.
Copying and paste seems to work well, except that it doesn't take into
account the different volume levels that you may have on respective tracks.
How do you deal with that?
Do you guys have better success with normalizing before copying and pasting,
normalizing the different sections or automating after the fact?
