Perhaps it's better to insert the softsynths the other way, (using alt I for 
insert?) What do you think?

  Or delete the effects from the FX Bin and re-insert them in the
  required
  order.  This is an issue we've flagged with Cakewalk, as it's a real
  pain
  for keyboard users (mousers can drag and drop FX to re-order them).

  To have a soft synth route through a plug-in on an audio track, you
  need to instantiate the plug-in first, then the soft synth. The way
  that the
  effects bin works is that the effects get stacked on top of each
  other, so
  if you wanted things routed a certain way, you need to instantiate
  them in
  the reverse order. Hope this helps.
