So you're saying that I can use fx like compression on the track? Because 
that's what I'm doing. But you're saying to insert the effect in the synth rack 
rather than the fx bin?

  They should definitely be working.  If you are inserting the synths in the 
effect bin, you need to make sure that the plug-ins are inserted after the 
synth in the chain.  Your best bet is to insert them in the synth rack.

    Is it me, or do fx plugins not work on audio tracks that have softsynths 
inserted into them? I'm applying compressors, etc on audio tracks with 
softsynths on them, and the plugins don't sound like they're working.
