Catherine,

Most classroom situations will not need very many of the styles I have
in the templates. It wouldn't take much time to teach someone how to use
a base set (Headings 1 & 2, Body text, List, Directions, and the
Exercise styles). Good luck on getting the teachers to use the template!

The primary thing to note is when you teach someone how to use any of
the styles that require hierarchy. Using Exercise as an example: if
there aren't any subentries under a numbered item, use Exercise (1 of
1). If the exercise item has subentries (such as answer choices), then
use Exercise 1 for the main level, and Exercise 2 for the answer
choices, etc.

If you haven't activated Word's Style area, I would recommend you give
that a try, as it helps you see at a glance how the paragraphs on the
current screen are styled. Go to Tools | Options | View. At the bottom
of the View dialog, there is an option called Style area width. Start it
at about .7 and then say OK. You need to be in Normal view to see the
style area (which can be activated by View | Normal (Alt+V, N), or
pressing Alt+Ctrl+N, or clicking on the Normal View icon in the lower
left corner of Word (right above the status line). If you are using a
mouse, you can change the width of the Style area by hovering your mouse
over the vertical line until it becomes a double pointing arrow. Left
click and hold on the line and drag it to the width you want.

Susan

Susan-Thank you for all the helpful information and for your hard work
on this project! The template has been so helpful. I hoping to get my
student's teachers to use it next year when they create documents for
the class. It would sure make my life easier!
