Dear Steve,

I still have a DOS machine with Duxbury for DOS in it. The DOS versions I
used were 10;2d and 10;2e. I was able to emboss from .dxb files.

: Terri,
:
: As far as I know, there were no .DXB files in the DOS days. .DXB
: only came about with DBTW. Duxbury for DOS generated .BRU (braille
: unformatted) and .BRF (braille formatted) files, and of course you
: could emboss the .BRF files directly. I've never tried it, but
: knowing what's in a .DXB file, if you sent it directly to your
: embosser, it would look very strange. For one thing, it has all the
: Duxbury codes which you don't want to see in the final braille. It
: also lacks the formfeeds needed for the embosser to go to the next
: page. I guess I'll just have to try it, but you haven't convinced me
: that it will work.
