Tom,

A .BRF file is a braille formatted file which is suitable for embossing or loading into a notetaker. Similarly, a .PRF file is one which can be sent directly to a printer. A .DXB file is the braille output from DBTW, but you can't emboss it directly because it still contains all the Duxbury codes. The "DXB" means "Duxbury braille." You didn't ask about this, but a .DXP file is one that has not yet been translated into braille, but contains all the Duxbury codes. You can also generate a .DXP file by back-translating a .DXB file.

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate all the help I receive on here. Now to further my knowledge what is the difference between a dxb file and a brf file.

                                       Thanks,
                                            Tom

Tom,

Use a program that doesn't add any formatting to the text file, such as
Note Pad.
