The easiest way to remove bolt and italics and such--if You want to remove all If you want to remove all formatting--this would include bolt, underline, italics--edit the document in Word first:
1. select all (control-a)
2. Alt-o for format, then f for font.
3. Tab to font style and arrow down to regular--which is I think the first choice.
4. Press enter on regular, tab to okay, and press enter on that.

Only trouble is, if you really care about an underline or an italic, it's gone.

Susie:

How does one go about getting rid of all that junk? I get Word documents all the time that have bolded, italisized, or underlined text in them. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Don

If there is underlining, when you reveal codes in DBT, you should see
something like [fts~u] and [fte~u]. Looking at the codes should solve
many mysteries about this document. Often people who do Word documents
"pretty them up" with all kinds of eye candy that doesn't need to be
there for Braille-reading purposes. In general I take all that stuff
out, I don't care what it is. Seek and destroy all eye candy!

The dots 4,5,6 is an underling indicator.

Subject: [duxuser] trouble with transcribing book

Hello there list,

I am having a problem transcribing a home owner book which I need to get
at least in to a .brf file. The first things I notice is when I import
it from Word in to DBt 10.5 the translator seems to think that I have
bold and something else on. It is dots 4-5-6. I think this is an
indicator. I would like to remove this. Secondly, the actual file came
from Quark Express and I then had it imported to a pdf which I then took
and made .doc files out of. The problem I see is that the Table of
Contents is not formatting properly. It is carying the dopt 5 which
indicates the line for the page number over way too many lines.
I think I counted that being three lines. Is there anything I can do
about this? Thanks for the help.
