Arpad, I strongly believe that for a standard to become successful it requires a need expressed by the end user who needs to analyze his design, the ability and agreement of the supplier of components to deliver models, and EDA companies commitment to support these models in their tools. I would like to submit the following for discussion by members of the IBIS ATM committee: "The members of the IBIS ATM committee support the development of an EMD standard along the lines proposed by Walter Katz. If IBIS approves this standard, the members of this committee will support the new standard." I am not trying to turn this conversation into anything personal or corporate. I am really surprised you are saying this. I am simply raising these questions because I feel we have had these types of discussions several times in the IBIS history (IBIS-X, IBIS-Macro), and I feel we are in the same position once again with the EMD proposal. I am asking these questions because I simply DO NOT want to write another failing specification. Yes, the questions may be painful but if we don't face them we won't find a solution. Believe me, I would be one of the happiest people in our community if I didn't have these questions to ask... As to the poll, it is a good idea. How do you propose doing it? Over this email forum, or in the meeting?
