Hi,

first of all, do not use "Root user Write" there is a reason where a volume may
not allow write functions.

here's the steps to check drive integrity and this may help a bit.

go back to disk utility. select the drive but not the partitions under the
drive name. it shows up as drive controller ID first and under that the list of
partitions created. this is the structure of the drive interface for SATA
buses, IDE and NAS handlers.

select the controller name and in the info / first aid pane which is shown by
default, perform a repair disk. this should give a structure of any issues
found. if none are found, then the partition or partitions created have issues.

Firstly, if your partitions are set to Mac OS X Extended Journaled (Case
Sensitive) then this is going to be a major issue. this is only used by server
interfaces for encrypted backup operations and not for general read/write
access to end user level. a way to resolve this problem would be to attempt to
copy the contents of the partition using SuperDuper to a disk image or folder
depending on what data's stored to the drive.

other than this and volume scanning, it would take more serious tools to check
a drive over as disk utility can only give certain details. I carry advanced
equipment and software for specialist work including disk recovery jobs where
necessary.

If we had a way of direct connection over the internet to perform a "Quick
Solve" then this would be ideal.
