Regaarding the possibility of 3D-printing custom cases, I'd like to
name drop Shapeways, I.materialize, and Sculptio as 3D printing
services to let those without their own printer order custom parts on
an as needed basis, and at least two of them offer the ability for
designers to make their models purchasable by others. I'm most
familiar with Shapeways, and I'm most familiar with 3D printing of
twisty puzzles, but surely at least one of these services would
provide a more scalable solution than leaving the end-user to find a
way of printing a model or someone on the team having to print every
unit on their own printer without needing the numbers required for
injection molding.
And this might be more appropriate in the software wish list thread,
but including some games in the image would probably be a good idea.
Frotz and Fizmo come to mind for playing classic infocom games and
some interactive fiction written in the inform language, but actually
including such games might run into IP issues, but I'm not sure of any
text-based games that are available from the repositories and work
well with the various text-mode screen reader and would assume most
GUI games completely unplayable with Orca.
