It takes quite a lot to force folks to create a new show (there's drama at every show, like VCF-E, VCF-MW, and event WoC, but nothing seems to rise to the level that causes folks to make such drastic changes). I wonder what happened (not that folks will ever tell, but it'd be nice to know as a caution for other show teams.

First I had heard of all this. So I did a bit of looking; one side of the story here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/260353-commvex-2017-discussion-thread/

The other side: http://www.commodore.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=6

I went looking as well, and found the atariage post. But, I am struggling to find the other side. All of the posts in commodore.ca look to be mainly from robert noting specific facts about the upcoming show.

It looks like some of the concerns about the venue disappeared when the show moved back to the Plaza. Others, like alleged inflexibility in making program changes, appear to be driving the remaining conversation.

I'll be honest, I have toyed with the idea of visiting LV to attend the show, but I wondered about the leadership. We often don't give enough credit to good leadership of a computer show, those who find a way to balance the needs of the show with the needs of the folks who will exhibit, present, and attend the show. Specifically, it's been my experience that a show that applies just enough governance to keep chaos to a simmer but offers the most flexibility for attendees yields the most interesting show, but I suspect it's tough on the showrunner. Still, it's a main reason why I find it easier to drive to Toronto for WoC than I do to attend VCF-East in New Jersey.
