Thanks for the info, guys. Dave, I'm sorry for your pain two weeks ago in regards to your statement; I can empathize with your frustrations. But I know you are a techee when it comes to fixes, so don't cut yourself short. I just wish I had some knowledge about fixing things and how things work. Honestly, I'm too scared of screwing something up and make things even worse. I know just enough to sabatoge my entire system! (grin) I'd rather pay to have an expert work on the issue to get it right since it is evidently unique. But, my friend, no one around here (Jackson, MS) knows anything about this type of equipment when JAWS is involved. I'm waiting for Freedom Scientific to respond, and I'll hear what they say before uninstalling anything. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks again, SLB From: dgcarlson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To: ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Assistance needed - Video Intercept again... Date: Wed, 28 Apr 2010 11:53:09 -0700 Stacy, Before you do the install with "removal of shared components" please, please, please backup all your documents and settings\<username>\application data\freedom scientific\jaws\<version #>settings/enu files to somewhere so that you can bring them back in after the new install. Then bring them in, a few at a time, leaving the default.xxx files for the very last, since the default.jsb and default .jcf seem to be the ones that cause the most problems. Just my advice learned from a very, very painful experience two weeks ago. Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: D!J!X! When uninstalling, uninstall jaws and all shared components, then reinstall it from scratch. This usually happens if some files relating to the video drivers are updated or altered, or randomly by JAWS for no apparent reason. HTH, D!J!X! I know I don't have to express my frustrations, but I'm at a loss here. Restoring to two weeks ago didn't work. I read some posts last night which offered some suggestions--one was to go to the JAWS menus to enter on the install the Video Intercept, but then I got an error message that says that it was unable to fix due to something about not locating a "chain" or something like that. I recall doing this last year as well with no results. If it's not a software issue for some reason, could it be a problem with the video card or the jack where the monitor plugs in? I've reset the unity gain and such on the FW 1884, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with the video. The monitor works fine because I hooked it up to another PC. Other than installing everything, which is a last resort, do you guys have any suggestions? I'm not a techee, but since I have no monitor, none of my sighted friends are of any help. I'm going to keep looking on line for other solutions. Thanks for listening, SLB The New Busy is not the too busy. Combine all your e-mail accounts with Hotmail.
