Hmm, I doubt you need much above 5K or maybe 8K. what happens if you drop things above those points?

Also, unless your bass has a low B string, a low E on a bass guitar is around 40 HZ. Maybe boost a little around 110-160HZ; kinda adds warmpth.

I just recorded a few songs with live basses on them. On one of them, I realized that I captured the bass with some hiss, is there anyway I can EQ this out? And, the bass is very boomy, any suggestions on where I should start cutting and boosting to get a clear tight bass. Most of the songs I am working on this album are Reggae and other Caribbean musics that require a tight bass, but not too boomy, as it is in hip-hop. Thanks.
