Gord,

This problem occurs in a new project with nothing loaded. The template consists of 16 midi tracks with no synths initially loaded or saved in the template. As soon as I load the first synth and play it i get laytency. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gordon Kent" <dbmusic@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello:
The playback i/o buffer setting controls how much data is chached when reading from your hard drive. When working with large projects with a lot of audio tracks, you might need to raise this so that your hard drive can keep up. The disadvantage to a higher setting is that response will be a bit slower when pressing play since the larger buffers will need to load up before streaming starts. This setting has no effect on input latency.

If that's the case, what are the benefits of having the option of lowering the rate to something like 64?
