Have you gone to your audio settings and run the wave profiler on your audio 
card?

Gord,

This problem occurs in a new project with nothing loaded. The template
consists of 16 midi tracks with no synths initially loaded or saved in the
template. As soon as I load the first synth and play it i get laytency.
