daniel, sorry about that friend,

Yes, you can still achieve this. if you’ve installed mavericks and you’re
running, you can still download mountain lion from the app store’s purchases
window if you’ve purchased it, etc.

you can also do this in mountain lion. the process is the same as described in
my previous instructions but instead you select mountain lion as your
installation, it will find the OS X mountain lion app provided you’ve
downloaded it from the app store.

luckily, today I checked in my purchases after a few days where apple dismissed
OS X 10.8 as a purchase, there was I going to contact them to state they had
broken a contract of supply by removing a purchased app from their server which
I had paid for. but low and behold, they restored download functionality.

so, for all those who need an urgent copy of mountain lion if things go wrong,
please open up App Store, go to purchases, if Mountain lion is available,
download it and continue as planned. once it’s downloaded, if you’re in
Mavericks, you’ll get an error saying this can’t be installed on this mac. no
worries just quit. if you’re in mountain lion, you’ll be reminded you’re
already using the OS. the advantage here is that you’ve downloaded the last
update version of mountain lion. so you have a safety net.

hope this helps.
