Our group of eight tallied 47 species. Highlights included good views of a
grey-cheeked thrush on our path and yellow-throated vireo, both in the holding
basin area. At the overlook a rough-winged swallow was seen disappearing into
a crevice with nesting material. Also seen was a great egret flying downstream.
All are welcome to join this Sunday walk that meets at 8 am in the visitor's
center parking lot. -- Marshall Rawson, McLean, VA
