Phil replied: I nearly lost it, never mind my mind on Saturday and I don't
normally when out playing gigs. Sarah and I were playing at a promotional
slot type thing. Told the PA guys ahead of time exactly what we were
bringing to the gig. Even put the Zoom up on a mic stand, complete with
cable for the PA however, when I turned it on, it didn't work. Next thing I
hear was the PA guy saying, Ehh, I haven't plugged that in. The out front
sound was lousy too. Could hear it from where I was on stage. Know I could
have done a better job on the sound for all acts/bands who were playing and
also, would have definitely plugged everything in. Unfortunately, that
wasn't the only channels That he forgot to plug in. They had lots of kit on
stage however, actually wondered if it was turned on as couldn't hear the
monitoring. Spoke to another friend on Sunday at church who had gone to see
another friends band play in the evening. He told me that the sound was
lousy too. Don't think we shall bother playing there next year.

Wow Tim, I find it hard hearing and braking down the musical arrangements
I'd never be able to then recreate the production as well.
I know this because, I've been trying to create and 1950's feel on my
tribute tracks for over a year now.

I Never seem to get it right, My gig Saturday night had the bass guitar
sounding beautifully rich and warm, this would have been great if that
lovely sound hadn't then made my virtual 1950's Strat Guitar sound like
something from the local toy shop.
I was trying not to laugh every time a guitar solo kicked in or should I say
crept in like a mouse with stage fright.
This is a Rock 'N' Roll Show so the Solos are either me at the piano or the
mouse on the guitar.

Sunday morning, I toned the bass down, sent an example of the new mix to
Darren Hartland, his reply, "I think the only thing I'd say is that the bass
guitar doesn't seem to have a lot of presence.
Love the guitar programming, you got that spot on."

Buddy Holly may have not had the technology that we have but in some ways he
had it better.
The new instrument of the day was the Strat Guitar, just a few switches and
knobs to learn.
When he played live, it didn't matter if the bass guitar was too rich as the
amplifiers were so rubbish no one could hear it over the screaming fans
anyway.

Well, I have a powerful PA system and no screaming fans so, I guess I'm in
real trouble.

Has anyone ever lost their mind due to arranging and producing being so
awkward?
I maybe the first.
