Don't you have to use a midi controller of some kind to use step recording? In Sonar 5, step recording is definitely more user friendly than it was in Sonar 2.

Hi,

There's the step recording mode. Haven't played with it for a while, but
this method of recording made a lot of folks a lot of money in the 80s

Best wishes.

Hi Tim, my name is Ross, I also am wanting to make use of the piano roll in
sonar 5. I see what you are saying about jaws not being accessible in the
piano roll window, I was wandering is there any other way of creating
bassline, synth patterns without using the piano roll. Obviously also without
using a keyboard or some instrument, I want to be able to do it myself on
the computer. thanks Ross
