Think there used to be a vurtual piano a while back. Mind you, that may have been in the days of Cakewalk.

Hi,

Just been reading up a bit on Sonar 5's step recording and yes, you do need
a means of getting notes into the machine. There was a thread a little
while ago about using the QWERTY keyboard as a note input device - does
anybody have the details, please? If there is a method of doing this, then
we have a complete step recording system with no MIDI controller or keyboard
required.

Best wishes.

Don't you have to use a midi controller of some kind to use step recording?
In Sonar 5, step recording is definitely more user friendly than it was in
Sonar 2.

Hi,

There's the step recording mode. Haven't played with it for a while,
but this method of recording made a lot of folks a lot of money in the
80s (giving away my age...).

Best wishes.

Hi Tim, my name is Ross, I also am wanting to make use of the piano
roll in sonar 5. I see what you are saying about jaws not being
accessible in the piano roll window, I was wandering is there any other
way of creating bassline, synth patterns without using the piano roll.
Obviously also without using a keyboard or some instrument, I want to
be able to do it myself on the computer. thanks Ross
