Have you made sure you can't hear the volume both with and without
headphones? And turned the volume up with headphones in?

Did you somehow turn the volume all the way down. I know, simple
questions, but best to look at all alternatives. Try holding the home and
power buttons down for six seconds to do a reset on the device to see if
that fixes the issue.

Do you have it set for a triple click of the home button to toggle
VoiceOver on? Also, can you get speech while the device is connected
to your computer?

under universal access and tabbed to okay and hit enter. However VO
did not go back on. When I went back to check universal access, VO was
not checked. I did it again and again and still nothing. I tried a 3
finger double tap in case I turned speech off as well but that didn't
