This could have to do with an app. Do you have heytell or skype and if so,
have you used either recently?

I think David's earlier suggestion of resting the phone to defaults
might be your only alternative, provided that your other sounds are working.

yes, the volume can go but reset should bring it back. this is a good

thing to check though. being able to hear music or any sounds would be

interesting.

Absolutely best. This happened to me a few times already. It is the

darndest thing I have no idea how I would have managed it, but the volume

was turned completely down. I think testing the sound by double tapping with
two fingers on the home screen might help, I think that will play music in
your library, and if the volume is up, you will hear it and know there is
something else. But seriously, could just be the obvious. lol

Did you somehow turn the volume all the way down. I know, simple

questions, but best to look at all alternatives. Try holding the

home and power buttons down for six seconds to do a reset on the

device to see if that fixes the issue.

VO it won't stay that way. Thanks

Do you have it set for a triple click of the home button to toggle

VoiceOver on? Also, can you get speech while the device is

connected to your computer?

Accidentally VO got turned off. I went into iTunes and checked VO

under universal access and tabbed to okay and hit enter. However VO

did not go back on. When I went back to check universal access, VO was

not checked. I did it again and again and still nothing. I tried a 3

finger double tap in case I turned speech off as well but that didn't

help. Any ideas? Thanks Barbara
