Okay, several messages came through while I was typing that monster.
I will say this about spring loaded card slots and carpet.
I hate anything where I have to use my fingernails for extra
precision, especially since I'm in the habit of biting my nails so
they barely stick out at all. For full-sized SD slots, I actually
prefer the spring loaded since they leave the card mostly flush(I've
had at least one card break from where it stuck out of a friction slot
on a laptop and the laptop got banged around a bit), but for microSD,
I do prefer the friction style even though I've never launched a
microSD.
Also, among the silver linings to my recent eviction and subsequent
move is that the carpet in my new room is that really short stuff you
usually only find in public buildings, which in addition to feeling
nicer on the soles of my feet, doesn't tend to swallow up tiny objects
the way thicker carpet does and makes sweeping up such tiny objects
much easier. Never launched a microSD card, but I have dropped them
only for them to be eaten by regular carpet.
And speaking of 1/4" audiojacks, I quite like that my electronic
keyboard has 1/4" jacks and a full-sized USB-B port. Combined with the
piano-sized keys gives it a rather nice mixture of classy, retro, and
modern in my opinion.
