Um actually it shouldn't block you. Did you turn on virtual machines in the
control panel?

Hi,
Thanks to all for their response about the terminal verses console
explanation. By the way, yes, I did try WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux)
and it worked quite well. The only annoyance was that I could not get audio
to play in the command line. I could have just accepted it and play my
audio via Windows since the files were connected to both Windows and Ubuntu.
But, for some reason, I was so annoyed with no audio in their limited Ubuntu
version. In addition, having WSL blocks you from running virtual machines
in Windows. I really like having access to virtual machines.

Speaking of scp, I don't know if there's a Windows equivalent, but I make
regular use of sshfs, a command that lets one use ssh to mount a remote
filesystem to the local directory tree.
