Radnor Lake State Natural Area Otter Creek Rd. Nashville, Davidson Co., TN Conditions at Radnor were a bit chilly because of both the temperature and a 10-15 mph wind. Winter birds are still in ascendency but I saw my first CHIMNEY SWIFTs and WOOD DUCK. A friendly LOUISIANA WARBLER finally accomodated me by perching where I could see as well as hear it. There were quite a few RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, several displaying their red "crest" as they sang. A lone Golden-crowned Kinglet competed for attention. A pair of COOPER'S HAWKS cavorted aloft, and it was neat to see the obvious sized difference. Plenty of TREE and N. ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWs crisscrossed the lake. Yellow-rumped Warblers vied with the swallows for largest numbers today. A few ducks were at the east end of the lake, but I decided not to walk all the way around and so just went to Long Bridge and back to the west parking lot.
