This Saturday, July 12th, the NTOS will be birding Bowie Nature Park in Fairview (7211 Bowie Lake Road, Fairview, TN 37062). We will be meeting in the parking lot beside the restrooms at 7:00 A.M., and then we'll take the Loblolly Loop Trail (a distance of approximately 1.5 miles). Red-headed Woodpeckers breed at this park, and Pine and Yellow-throated Warblers can be heard singing along the trails. This walk will only last the morning, but you are welcome to bring snacks and drinks if you wish. Please bring bug spray since we will be walking through mostly woods. For more information about Bowie Nature Park, visit www.bowiepark.org. Directions from Nashville: From I-40 West (towards Memphis), take exit 182 for TN-96/Fairview/Dickson. Turn right onto Highway 96 N/TN-96 and travel approximately 4.5 miles. Merge onto Fairview Blvd/TN-100. Travel 1.5 miles, then turn right at the park's entrance at Bowie Lake Road. The parking lot beside the restrooms is about 0.5 mile on your right after entering the park. ***Get it on your calendars! The next NTOS field trip will be on August 23, 2014, at 7:00 A.M. at Radnor Lake State Natural Area.
