I'll try the left and/or right bracket thing for changing on/off
switches in the inspector.
Chris, I'm a bit confused about what you said about the inspector
exposing the third party plug-ins to the vst host within Sonar.
Why would the inspector be necessary to expose them?
I still have all of my Waves and some SoundForge plug-ins right there
in my VST list without using the inspector but most of the parameters
are not accessible. The same is true for Waves within SF. What's the
difference?

Try this:
Really lean on left or right bracket for awhile
and you can usually change the off/on type toggles just fine.
Also, on any of the four parameters shown, simply
hit the applications key. Then Up Arrow once to
the "reassign Control" sub-menu, and hit a Right
Arrow. Pick anything from the list and hit ENTER
to have it now fill one of the four slots in the inspector.
