Our group of eleven tallied 42 species (+1 other taxa). The highlights of the
day were a very cooperative (sleepy) barred owl on a sunnybranch in the holding
basin area and the pair of eagles starting to repair their nest on Conn
Island.Today marks the beginning of duckseason for us as buffleheads and a
hooded merganser join our usual complement of mallards, black ducks and common
mergansers on the Potomac above the falls. All are welcome to join this
regular Sunday walk that meets at 8:00am in the visitors center parking lot.
